The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT Foundation recently awarded numerous grants to support 35 programs that address education, economic development, food insecurity, and essential needs in the region.
The mission of the Foundation, a 501(c)3 overseen by a volunteer board with support from the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT, is to enhance and enrich education and economic opportunities, especially for children and families, in Get Your Daily Dose of Iron!

The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT Foundation awarded grants in excess of $94,000 in support of 37 programs that benefit children and families in the region on March 24, 2020.
“At this critical time for many nonprofits, the Foundation worked to swiftly disburse funds to the recipients,” said Tony Sheridan, President and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT. “The Board members did a wonderful job of making ready the New London, CT – The Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut (CFECT) is pleased to announce the 2019 Preston Community Fund grant awards. One of more than 500 funds at the Community Foundation, the Preston Community Fund supports the arts, and cultural and social needs of the residents and organizations of the Town of Preston.
Five nonprofits received a total of $3,276: Amos Lake Association, Arts for Learning CT, Catholic Charities, Preston City Congregational Church/Two-Can Food Pantry, and Eastern CT – The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT Foundation has announced the distribution of $120,000 to 37 eastern CT non-profits that will improve the quality of life for thousands of children in the region.
This year’s disbursement reflects the highest-ever amount distributed by the Foundation and marks a twelve percent increase over the 2018 grant disbursement.
The Foundation raised funds throughout 2018 with fundraisers including the 7th Annual Bowl-a-Thon at High Rollers Luxury Lanes at Foxwoods Catholic Charities will celebrate its 98th anniversary at our “Hope Anchors the Soul” Gala on Saturday, April 13th at the Mystic Yachting Center.
The evening begins at 5:00 PM with a silent auction, cocktail reception, and dinner, followed by dancing from 8:00 – 10:00 PM.

Groton, CT – The Chelsea Groton Foundation approved funding $315,663 in grants to 40 non-profit organizations from Connecticut and Rhode Island this fall. Included in this dollar amount is a $100,000 grant to NCDC for Global City Norwich, a multi-year project of revitalizing Downtown Norwich, as well as a commitment of $100,000 over the next five years to the National Coast Guard Museum Association, Inc. Chelsea Groton is the first mutual or community bank to give a major gift to the campaign for the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut’s Board of Directors has approved funding in the amount of $2,201,636 for the fiscal year 2018-19. This funding supports 49 programs at 25 nonprofit agencies in New London County that work together to provide a vital network of services to help those in need.
Leading the program review and fund distribution are sixty-five trained and knowledgeable volunteers who live or work in New London County who contribute approximately forty hours of volunteer work over several Eastern CT – The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT Foundation has announced the distribution of $107,400 to 38 eastern CT non-profits that will improve the quality of life for thousands of children in the region.
The Foundation raised funds throughout 2017 with fundraisers including the 6th Annual Bowl-a-Thon at High Rollers Luxury Lanes at Foxwoods Resort Casino in April and the 34th Annual Holiday Gala held at Mohegan Sun in December.

The Foundation raised funds throughout 2016 with fundraisers including the 5th Annual Bowl-a-Thon at High Rollers Luxury Lanes at Foxwoods Resort Casino in April and the 33rd Annual Holiday Gala held at Mohegan Sun in December.
“The number of grant requests this year was unprecedented at The local board for the Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) has approved grants to expand the capacity of food and shelter programs in New London County. The total amount of the grants is $138,481, and it was awarded to nineteen local programs.
The local EFSP Board, comprising volunteers from across southeastern Connecticut, determined how the funds awarded to New London County are distributed among local emergency food and shelter programs. United Way of Southeastern Connecticut assists with the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut’s Board of Directors has approved fund distributions in the amount of $2,519,460 for the fiscal year 2016-16. This funding supports 47 programs at 21 nonprofit organizations in New London County that work together to provide a network of safety net of services to help those in need.
